Secondary Science or Mathematics Teaching (FSU-Teach) Secondary Major

 

The majors included in FSU-Teach have not yet been approved, but the following information is provided for student information purposes.

 

Prerequisites (Paid Tuition)

 

  • Step 1: 1 credit-hour
  • Step 2: 1 credit-hour

  • Knowing & Learning: 3 credit-hours
     
  • Functions and Modeling (for math education students only): 3 credit-hours
     
  • Classroom Interactions: 3 credit-hours
     
  • Perspectives on Science & Mathematics (corequisite with content major): 3 credit-hours
     
  • Project Based Instruction: 3 credit-hours
     
  • Research Methods (corequisite with content major): 3 credit-hours
     
  • Teaching for Equity in Diverse Mathematics & Science Classrooms: 3 credit-hours
     
  • Secondary School Reading: 3 credit-hours
     
  • Apprentice Teaching (student teaching internship): 6 credit-hours

This secondary major requires that students be pursuing a primary major in one of the content areas (Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, Physics and Mathematics). These primary majors are currently under development.
